Understand the Scope Before You Compare the Price

Interior Design Cost & Pricing

Two interior design quotations can show the same total and cover completely different work. One may include concept, technical drawings, joinery details and site reviews; another may stop at mood boards and 3D images. A turnkey figure may include construction but exclude furniture, appliances, approvals or VAT. Bella starts by defining what you are actually buying, then prices the scope so you can see where the budget goes before design decisions become expensive to change.

This page explains how interior design pricing works in Abu Dhabi and the UAE, including consultations, concept and layout packages, full design-only services, FF&E and procurement, renovation / fit-out and turnkey delivery. The market figures shown are independent 2026 planning references—not Bella fixed rates. Your Bella quotation is prepared around your property, area, existing condition, design scope, finish level, authority requirements, programme and level of delivery support.

Before Asking 'How Much?'

First decide which number you are asking for.

Interior design cost can mean the designer's professional fee, the construction budget, furniture procurement, a complete renovation or everything combined. We separate those numbers because that is the only way to compare quotations fairly.

01

You only need professional advice

A consultation can be the lowest-cost entry point. It is appropriate when you need a second opinion on layout, colour, furniture, a purchase decision or an existing contractor proposal. It should not be confused with a technical design package.

02

You need the space designed but will appoint your own contractor

This is design-only. Your quotation should define the survey, layouts, concept, 3D visuals, technical drawings, material schedules, joinery information, tender support and site reviews. Construction, furniture purchasing and contractor management are normally separate unless stated.

03

You want us to select and procure furniture as well

FF&E adds sourcing, quotations, sample review, purchase orders, delivery tracking, installation and styling. Ask whether the fee is fixed, percentage-based, marked up on procurement or included within a wider service.

04

You are renovating and physical work is required

Fit-out / renovation cost is the build: partitions, ceilings, flooring, MEP changes, painting, tiling, waterproofing, joinery and installation. It is fundamentally different from the professional design fee and should be costed from an agreed scope and drawings.

05

You want one team responsible through handover

A turnkey price can combine design, procurement, construction, installation and styling, but the exclusions still matter. Furniture, appliances, smart home, specialist lighting, authority charges and loose décor should never be assumed to be included unless the proposal states so.

06

You already have a budget ceiling

Tell us the number early. We can then decide where to spend it—joinery, stone, lighting, furniture or construction—rather than designing a scheme first and removing the best parts after tender.

Six Numbers to Separate

A clear budget is built from separate cost buckets.

When a quotation is vague, expensive items hide inside one headline rate. We prefer to make the structure visible so you can compare like with like.

01

1. Professional design fee

This pays for thinking, drawings, specifications, visualisation and design coordination. It can be fixed, area-based, hourly or percentage-based depending on the scope.

  • Survey / brief
  • Layouts
  • Concept
  • 3D
  • Technical drawings
  • Specifications
02

2. Fit-out / construction

This is the physical work carried out by contractors and specialist trades. The price is affected by the existing shell, demolition, MEP, waterproofing, ceilings, flooring, painting and workmanship.

  • Demolition
  • Partitions
  • MEP
  • Ceilings
  • Flooring
  • Installation
03

3. Custom joinery

Kitchens, wardrobes, TV units, vanities, wall panelling, studies and bespoke storage can become one of the largest budget variables. Confirm whether they are inside or outside any per-square-foot fit-out rate.

  • Kitchen
  • Wardrobes
  • Vanities
  • Media units
  • Panelling
  • Hardware
04

4. FF&E + appliances

Loose furniture, decorative lighting, rugs, curtains, art, accessories, TVs and appliances are often excluded from construction pricing. Keep them visible as a separate line so the build does not consume the furnishing budget.

  • Furniture
  • Lighting
  • Curtains
  • Rugs
  • Art
  • Appliances
05

5. Approvals + project logistics

Building NOCs, authority submissions, fire / life-safety coordination, deposits, service-lift bookings, access restrictions and night-work conditions vary by property. We confirm the actual site route instead of publishing one invented 'approval fee'.

  • Landlord / community NOC
  • DMT route
  • Civil Defence interface
  • Deposits
  • Access
  • Working hours

6. Contingency + VAT

Renovations can reveal hidden conditions after opening ceilings and walls, so a reserve should be planned rather than spent on day one. UAE VAT is 5% for standard-rated supplies; always confirm whether a quotation is VAT-inclusive or VAT-exclusive.

Pricing Routes

Choose the service level before comparing the rate.

The cheapest-looking quote is often just the smallest scope. These seven service routes explain what you may actually be comparing.

Pricing Route / 01

Consultation Only

Useful for early advice, reviewing a floor plan, testing a colour / material direction or deciding whether a renovation is worth pursuing. Current UAE consumer services range from low-cost retailer-linked sessions to independent paid consultations; the deliverable can vary from verbal guidance to a written action list.

Layout + Concept Package

For clients who primarily need space planning, furniture layout, a visual direction, colour / material palette and selected 3D views. It costs less than a contractor-ready design package because detailed joinery, electrical, ceiling and construction information may not be included.

Renovation / Fit-Out

Physical works are priced separately from design unless the company has issued one combined proposal. Existing-condition surveys matter because rewiring, plumbing, AC, waterproofing and hidden substrate problems can materially change the construction budget.

Turnkey Design + Build

A turnkey appointment places design and execution under one coordinated delivery route. Compare the inclusions carefully: furniture, appliances, smart home, specialist AV, loose décor, approvals and external works may still be separate.

Commercial / Office Pricing

Commercial projects require a separate pricing conversation because partitions, MEP density, fire / life-safety, data, acoustics, authority approvals, signage and operational deadlines can outweigh decorative finishes. A residential AED-per-square-foot rate should not be copied onto an office, clinic, restaurant or retail unit.

What a Clear Interior Design Quote Should Tell You

Do not compare quotations until the deliverables and exclusions are visible.

A quotation should tell you what work is being performed, how many spaces are covered, how many revisions are included, which drawings are issued and what happens after the design is approved. These are the lines we recommend checking.

01

Pre-design + survey

The quotation should say what happens before concepts begin.

  • Client briefing
  • Site visit
  • Measured survey
  • Existing-condition photographs
  • Existing drawings review
  • Budget discussion
  • Style / lifestyle brief
  • Landlord / building constraints review
02

Concept + visualisation

Confirm exactly how much visual work is included.

  • Furniture layout options
  • Mood board
  • Colour palette
  • Material palette
  • 3D views / renderings
  • Number of rendered spaces
  • Revision rounds
  • Presentation meetings
03

Technical design

This is where a concept becomes something contractors can price and build.

  • Partition plans
  • Floor finish plans
  • Reflected ceiling plans
  • Lighting layout
  • Electrical / data layout
  • Plumbing / sanitary coordination
  • Interior elevations
  • Joinery drawings
  • Finish schedule
  • Door / hardware schedule where applicable
04

Tender + contractor support

If you will seek competitive construction prices, the tender scope matters.

  • Tender issue package
  • Contractor queries
  • Design clarifications
  • Quote comparison
  • Sample review
  • Value engineering
  • Approved-alternate review
  • Design compliance site visits
05

FF&E + procurement

Furniture sourcing can be a separate professional service with its own commercial model.

  • Furniture schedule
  • Decorative lighting
  • Rugs
  • Curtains / blinds
  • Artwork / accessories
  • Supplier quotations
  • Purchase-order coordination
  • Delivery / installation
  • Styling
06

Fit-out / build

Construction should identify what is and is not inside the contract sum.

  • Demolition
  • Partitions
  • Ceilings
  • Painting
  • Flooring
  • Tiling
  • Waterproofing
  • MEP works
  • Joinery
  • Testing / commissioning
  • Protection / cleaning
  • Snag rectification
07

Typical exclusions to confirm

These are commonly misunderstood when comparing headline totals.

  • Authority / landlord fees
  • Refundable building deposits
  • Structural engineering
  • Major AC / electrical upgrades
  • Smart-home specialist systems
  • Appliances
  • Loose furniture
  • Art
  • Landscape / external works
  • Storage charges
  • International freight / customs
  • VAT unless specifically stated

A low quote is not automatically poor value and a high quote is not automatically comprehensive. The useful question is: 'What exact design, material, construction and delivery responsibility is included for this amount?'

How Bella Builds a Quote

We price the brief after we understand the property—not from one photograph.

A useful quotation needs enough information to separate confirmed scope from allowances. This is the sequence we use to move from an enquiry to a defensible commercial proposal.

01

Project facts

We confirm location, property type, floor area, number of rooms, existing condition, whether the property is occupied and the target completion date.

Output: project baseline
02

Service level

You choose consultation, design-only, design + FF&E, renovation / fit-out or a wider turnkey scope. This prevents design fees and construction costs being mixed together.

Output: agreed pricing route
03

Scope + deliverables

We identify the spaces, drawings, renderings, joinery, sourcing, revisions, site support and handover services the proposal needs to cover.

Output: scope matrix
04

Budget + specification tier

We discuss whether the project is value-led, mid-range, premium or highly bespoke and identify where you want to spend more or deliberately save.

Output: target budget band
05

Site / approval constraints

Where relevant, we review building-management rules, authority requirements, access, working hours, service lifts and whether structural or MEP changes are proposed.

Output: known cost constraints
06

Commercial proposal

The quotation separates the professional fee, build scope, procurement or allowances as applicable and states the VAT position, payment milestones, exclusions and validity.

Output: Bella project quotation
07

Budget control during design

As the design develops, major specification choices are checked against the target budget so value engineering happens before procurement rather than after work has started.

Output: controlled design-to-budget process

Why the Same Area Can Have Very Different Costs

Square metres do not tell us what is inside the square metres.

Area is useful for an early benchmark, but specification and existing condition usually move the number more. A 120 m² apartment with no wet-area work and ready-made furniture is a different project from a 120 m² apartment with new bathrooms, full custom joinery and imported stone.

UAE interior material library with wood, fabric and rug samples used to compare specification levels
01

Existing condition

A clean new shell and a twenty-year-old renovation cannot be priced from the same headline rate. Hidden rewiring, leaking waterproofing, uneven floors, damaged AC or undocumented alterations only become visible after survey or strip-out.

02

Amount of MEP change

Moving plumbing, AC diffusers, drainage, electrical loads, fire systems or ceilings adds engineering and labour that may be invisible in the final photographs. Keeping a good existing service layout can protect the budget.

03

Custom joinery quantity

A project with factory-made kitchens, wardrobes, wall panelling, TV units and vanities has a different cost structure from one using loose furniture. Ask for joinery as a visible BOQ section rather than assuming it sits inside an area rate.

04

Material origin + lead time

Regional porcelain, locally fabricated joinery and in-stock lighting can protect both price and programme. Imported stone, European sanitaryware, specialist fabrics and bespoke decorative lighting introduce freight, customs, storage and programme risk.

05

Number of unique details

Repeating one well-designed door, wardrobe module or vanity is cheaper to document and build than creating a different detail in every room. Bespoke work should be concentrated where it creates visible value.

06

Furniture level

FF&E can range from retail furniture to custom upholstery and collectible pieces. Keep the furnishing budget separate so an increase in construction cost does not silently remove the furniture needed to complete the design.

07

Lighting specification

Standard downlights and a fully dimmable architectural / decorative lighting scheme are different budgets. Drivers, controls, chandeliers, magnetic tracks, concealed profiles and programming should be visible in the estimate.

08

Occupied vs vacant property

Working around residents or an operating business adds protection, phasing, temporary access and slower working conditions. A vacant property normally offers a more efficient construction sequence.

09

Building logistics

Tower loading bays, service-lift bookings, limited working hours, parking, security passes and debris routes can increase labour time even when the interior specification is unchanged.

10

Fast-track programme

Compressing the programme can require additional labour shifts, expedited freight and early purchasing before every detail is final. Faster is not automatically cheaper.

11

Approvals and NOCs

Abu Dhabi DMT introduced a streamlined process in 2025 for certain minor residential works, including non-structural internal modifications and interior finishes, but the actual route still depends on the property and work. Commercial or more substantial changes can involve additional approvals and consultant documentation.

12

Revision control

Changes are inexpensive on a plan and progressively more expensive after tender, ordering and installation. A quotation should define revision rounds and the commercial treatment of changes after approval.

Abu Dhabi Approvals, NOCs & VAT

Do not add an invented flat 'permit fee' to every project.

Approval cost depends on what you are changing and where the property sits. A furniture-only project may need no building work approval, while new partitions, wet-area changes, MEP modifications, fire-system changes or commercial fit-out can require landlord, consultant and authority processes.

DMT introduced a simplified permit route in August 2025 for certain minor works on Abu Dhabi residential properties, villas, farmhouses and holiday homes. The examples include non-structural interior / exterior modifications, maintenance and interior finishes. That does not mean every renovation is automatically permit-free; the appointed consultant / contractor should confirm the correct route for the actual scope.

For development / fit-out permits, Abu Dhabi Municipality's published guidance has historically required Civil Defence approval where applicable before the fit-out permit. Commercial projects should therefore treat fire / life-safety coordination as a project-specific cost and programme item rather than a generic residential allowance.

Building owners and operators are also subject to Abu Dhabi's Building Occupancy and Legalisation Certificate framework. DMT's 2026 enforcement reinforces that the legal / occupancy status of the property remains separate from the decorative fit-out itself.

VAT is much simpler: the Federal Tax Authority confirms the UAE standard VAT rate is 5%. A quotation should state clearly whether design fees, contractor works and supplied goods are shown before or after VAT and whether the supplier is VAT registered.

Bella can identify likely approval interfaces in the design scope, but statutory applications, engineering certificates and authority charges should be assigned clearly to the responsible consultant / contractor in the commercial proposal.

  • Confirm whether the work is styling only, non-structural minor work or a larger fit-out
  • Obtain landlord / community / building-management rules before pricing construction
  • Confirm whether an NOC or refundable deposit is required
  • Confirm DMT / municipality permit route for the actual works
  • Confirm Civil Defence / fire-consultant requirements for commercial or affected life-safety systems
  • Confirm structural-engineer scope before removing or cutting structural elements
  • Confirm utility / MEP approvals where loads or connections materially change
  • Ask which approval fees are included and which are reimbursable at cost
  • Check whether every quotation is VAT-inclusive or VAT-exclusive
  • Do not compare two bids until their approval responsibilities are aligned

Colour, Specification & Budget

Colour rarely makes a project expensive. Specification and detailing do.

The same warm-neutral colour can be achieved with several paint, laminate, veneer, stone and textile price points. What changes the budget is substrate, thickness, fabrication, edge detail, brand, origin, installation complexity and how much custom work is involved.

The familiar 60-30-10 or 70-30 rules are visual composition tools, not pricing rules. They can help balance colour, but they do not determine design fees, construction cost or material performance.

HEX codes are digital references only. Paint, laminate, stone and fabric must be approved from physical samples in the actual project lighting because screens do not reproduce material colour accurately.

2026 UAE Interior Design Pricing Benchmarks

Use market ranges to plan. Use a project quotation to commit.

There is no official UAE tariff for private interior designers. The figures below come from current market guides and published consumer services, and different sources use different definitions. We therefore label them by scope rather than pretending one AED-per-square-foot number represents every project.

External market references — not Bella fixed prices

What current 2026 pricing sources actually show

  • Abu Dhabi design-only benchmark: one 2026 UAE editorial guide places full-scope design-only fees at approximately AED 85–135/m² standard, AED 140–250/m² premium and AED 260–450/m² luxury. It describes the scope as concept, drawings, specifications and tender support, with supervision either extra or included depending on the firm.
  • A separate current Abu Dhabi guide uses a broader design-only range of approximately AED 10–50/ft² and says percentage-based fees for larger residential / commercial projects can sit around 8–15% of the estimated total project budget. This wider spread shows why deliverables must be compared before rates.
  • Dubai 2026 cross-check: Bestimate currently gives about AED 300–1,500 for consultations, AED 2,500–10,000 for a detailed room / small-scope concept, AED 15,000–60,000+ for apartment design-only and AED 40,000–150,000+ for large-villa design-only. Dubai is included here as a regional comparison, not an Abu Dhabi rate card.
  • Another September 2026 Dubai design guide publishes approximately AED 15–35/ft² for concept + layout, AED 35–80/ft² for a full technical design package and AED 80–150+/ft² when FF&E procurement and site supervision are added. Again, scope—not just the rate—explains the change.
  • Low-cost retail-linked comparison: IKEA UAE currently charges AED 495 for its Complete Interior Design Solution for a room up to 20 m², with reimbursement subject to at least AED 7,000 of qualifying IKEA spend. It includes a moodboard, layout, 3D drawings, lighting / colour suggestions and product list, but it is a retailer-linked furnishing service rather than a contractor-ready bespoke fit-out design package.
  • Local Abu Dhabi consumer examples demonstrate the same spectrum: published independent services currently advertise around AED 1,000 for an online consultation, AED 3,000 for an Abu Dhabi site-visit consultation and AED 5,000 for a mood-board / furniture-layout service. These are individual provider prices, not industry tariffs.
  • Abu Dhabi fit-out orientation: the same 2026 UAE editorial guide publishes approximately AED 2,500–3,700/m² standard, AED 3,900–6,200/m² premium and AED 6,800–11,000/m² luxury for built interior works, excluding loose furniture, appliances and art. Use these only after confirming exactly which MEP, joinery and finishes are included.
  • Apartment turnkey figures vary sharply by inclusion. One current Abu Dhabi guide publishes broad total bands around AED 15,000–60,000 for studios, AED 30,000–110,000 for one-bedroom apartments, AED 55,000–200,000 for two-bedroom apartments and AED 100,000–350,000+ for three-bedroom apartments across standard-to-luxury tiers. Those figures are useful only as external market orientation because individual scopes can differ dramatically.
  • UAE VAT: the Federal Tax Authority confirms a 5% standard VAT rate. Always check whether the figure you are comparing is before or after VAT.
  • Bella's quotation is not generated by copying any of these market bands. We price the actual property, service scope, deliverables, site condition, finish tier, revision / visualisation requirement, site-support level and delivery responsibility.
When pricing becomes more reliable

Budget confidence improves as unknowns are removed

  • Initial enquiry — only a broad budget band is realistic
  • Floor plan + area received — design fee can be scoped more accurately
  • Site survey complete — hidden condition / access assumptions reduce
  • Concept approved — key finish and joinery cost direction becomes visible
  • Technical package developed — contractors can price comparable information
  • Samples / specification approved — material allowances become firmer
  • Authority / NOC route confirmed — approval responsibilities become clearer
  • Tender returned — construction budget can be normalised across bidders
  • Strip-out complete on renovations — concealed conditions are finally known
  • Major purchase orders placed — lead-time and currency risk reduces
  • Final account — all approved variations and actual procurement are reconciled
  • For design timing, IKEA UAE currently says its retail interior-design service may take up to four weeks depending on size and designer availability; full bespoke projects require longer because survey, technical design, tender and approvals are additional stages.

A practical early formula is: TOTAL PROJECT BUDGET = DESIGN FEE + FIT-OUT + JOINERY + FF&E / APPLIANCES + APPROVALS / LOGISTICS + CONTINGENCY + VAT. Keep each line visible until the scope is sufficiently defined.

Interior Design Pricing, Explained

Interior Design Cost & Pricing — Frequently Asked Questions

These answers focus on what people actually need before requesting a quote: how designers charge, how to calculate a budget, what is included, why quotes differ and which internet 'rules' are useful versus misleading.

01How do interior designers price their services?

Common models are fixed fees, hourly / consultation rates, area-based fees and percentages of the construction / procurement budget. Some firms combine models—for example a fixed design fee plus a percentage for FF&E procurement or a separate monthly / visit fee for site supervision.

02What is the typical interior design pricing in Abu Dhabi?

There is no official tariff. One current 2026 UAE market guide publishes Abu Dhabi full-scope design-only fees around AED 85–135/m² standard, AED 140–250/m² premium and AED 260–450/m² luxury. Another current Abu Dhabi guide uses a wider AED 10–50/ft² design-only band. The difference is why you must compare deliverables.

03What is the typical price range for interior design services in Dubai?

Current July 2026 Dubai guidance places consultations around free to AED 300–1,500, detailed small-scope concepts around AED 2,500–10,000, apartment design-only around AED 15,000–60,000+ and large-villa design-only around AED 40,000–150,000+. These are external market references, not Bella prices.

04How much does an interior design consultation cost?

The market ranges from free sales consultations to paid specialist sessions. IKEA UAE currently lists a AED 495 retailer-linked complete room design service; one Abu Dhabi independent provider publicly lists AED 1,000 online consultation and AED 3,000 site consultation. A Bella consultation, where applicable, is quoted according to the requested scope and outcome.

05How do I calculate the total cost of interior design?

Use separate lines: design fee + fit-out / construction + custom joinery + furniture / appliances + approvals / logistics + contingency + VAT. Do not multiply floor area by one rate unless you have confirmed exactly what that rate includes.

06What is included in a design-only fee?

It can include briefing, survey, layouts, concept, 3D visualisation, material selection, technical drawings, joinery details, finish schedules, tender support and site design reviews. The exact combination varies by firm, so the proposal must list deliverables and revision rounds.

07Is fit-out included in an interior design fee?

Not automatically. Design-only is a professional service; fit-out is physical construction. A design-and-build or turnkey company may combine both in one contract, but you should still be able to understand the design scope and construction scope separately.

08Is furniture included in a turnkey interior price?

Sometimes, but never assume it. Loose furniture, appliances, curtains, rugs, decorative lighting, art and accessories are common exclusions from construction rates. Ask for an FF&E schedule or allowance.

09How much should I budget for a studio or apartment interior in Abu Dhabi?

One current Abu Dhabi market guide gives broad full-turnkey orientation of approximately AED 15,000–60,000 for studios, AED 30,000–110,000 for one-bedroom apartments, AED 55,000–200,000 for two-bedroom apartments and AED 100,000–350,000+ for three-bedroom apartments across different finish tiers. Actual quotations can sit outside these bands depending on scope.

10How much should I budget for a villa interior in Abu Dhabi?

Villa budgets vary more because area, majlis / reception spaces, kitchens, bathrooms, joinery, smart systems and imported materials can change the scope dramatically. Current Abu Dhabi guides publish everything from design-only fees in the tens or hundreds of thousands to turnkey villa fit-out rates from roughly AED 150/ft² upward, so an area and scope review is essential.

11What does interior fit-out cost per square metre in Abu Dhabi?

One current 2026 UAE market guide publishes Abu Dhabi built interior works around AED 2,500–3,700/m² standard, AED 3,900–6,200/m² premium and AED 6,800–11,000/m² luxury, excluding loose furniture, appliances and art. Treat those as market orientation only; MEP, joinery and shell condition must be normalised before comparison.

12Why can two interior design quotes differ so much?

Because they may include different drawings, number of 3D views, revision rounds, site visits, joinery detail, furniture, procurement, contractor management, approvals, supervision or VAT. A cheap headline rate can become expensive when the missing scope returns later as variations.

13What usually increases interior design cost the most?

Custom joinery, wet-area changes, imported stone / lighting / sanitaryware, MEP alterations, smart-home systems, complex ceilings, bespoke furniture, difficult building logistics and compressed programmes are common major cost drivers.

14How can I lower the cost without making the interior look cheap?

Simplify hidden construction, repeat joinery modules, use strong regional alternatives for large surfaces, reduce the number of unique details and concentrate premium material on touchpoints that people actually see. Protect layout, workmanship, lighting quality and visible hardware before spending on unnecessary decorative complexity.

15Are low-cost interior design packages worth it?

They can be useful when the scope is genuinely small. Retailer-linked packages can be excellent for furniture layout and product selection, but they are not substitutes for technical drawings, MEP coordination, approvals or bespoke contractor-ready design when the property is being renovated.

16What is the 70/30 rule in interior design?

It is a composition heuristic: roughly 70% of one visual direction and 30% of a contrasting or supporting direction. It has nothing to do with professional fees or construction pricing and is not a UAE standard.

17What is the 15% rule in interior design?

There is no universally accepted '15% rule.' Some people use 15% when discussing designer percentages, contingency or styling proportions, but those are different concepts. If a designer charges a percentage, the contract should define the exact percentage and what cost base it applies to.

18What are the three golden rules of interior design?

There is no official set. For budgeting, three useful rules are: define the scope before comparing price, protect a contingency instead of spending every dirham on day one, and approve major design decisions before ordering or construction starts.

19What are the three F's of interior design?

Different sources use different versions, so there is no professional standard. A practical version for a project is Function, Feel and Finish: the space has to work, create the intended experience and be executed with an appropriate material / workmanship level.

20What colour makes a home look expensive?

No single HEX code creates luxury. Warm off-whites, stone, greige, timber, deeper greens / blues and controlled metal accents can look refined, but workmanship, proportion, lighting, material authenticity and consistent detailing matter much more than the colour name.

21Do I need a contingency budget?

For renovation, yes. The exact percentage depends on how well the existing condition is known. Current UAE market guides often suggest roughly 10% for renovation and around 5% for new shells as early planning reserves, but the project QS / contractor should establish the appropriate amount for your risk profile.

22Are authority fees included in interior design pricing?

Only if the proposal says so. Consultant drawings, landlord / community NOCs, authority charges, deposits and Civil Defence documentation can be separate. We prefer to identify them as a distinct allowance or responsibility rather than hiding them inside the design fee.

23Is VAT included in interior design quotations in the UAE?

Not always. The UAE Federal Tax Authority confirms the standard VAT rate is 5% for standard-rated transactions. Ask every designer, supplier and contractor whether the figure shown is VAT-inclusive or VAT-exclusive before comparing totals.

24What payment structure should I expect?

There is no universal payment schedule. Professional design fees are commonly linked to design milestones, while fit-out contracts are usually paid against advance / mobilisation and certified progress stages. The proposal should state milestones, retention if any, variation rules and what happens if the scope pauses.

25How do I get an accurate Bella interior design quotation?

Send the Abu Dhabi / UAE location, floor plan or approximate area, property type, current-condition photos, rooms in scope, whether you need design-only or construction, preferred finish level, furniture requirement, target budget and desired completion date. We can then quote the scope instead of guessing from a style image.

Send us the information that actually changes the price.

You do not need a finished brief. Send the floor plan or approximate area, property type, location, current-condition photos, rooms in scope and what you want us to deliver. If you already have a target budget, share it—we can design toward it rather than pretending it does not exist.

Please also tell us whether you need design only, furniture / FF&E, renovation / fit-out or complete turnkey delivery. Those are different services and should not be priced as one generic 'interior design' number.
